Using Pictures & Graphics

Richard A. Bales

Abstract:

Pictures and graphics can promote clarity, brevity, and convenience. This essay provides several tips for using pictures and graphics in motions, briefs, and other legal documents. First, use a variety of media to convey a message. Second, place the picture or graphic in the body of the text - not in an appendix or other document. Third, don't use pictures or graphics to try to mislead the reader. Fourth, don't over-simplify - use pictures and graphics to make complex material understandable.
